Suggested activities in Picton area during 5-night stay

Prior to doing the Queen CharlotteTrack in January, we'll have 5 nights in Picton. Any suggested activities for people without a car whose interests are eclectic ? We've "done" the Nelson region previously so no desire to head back that way, and we've been to Kaikoura for a whale-watch trip. We'll get our big workout doing the walk. There need be am activity every single day. We're quite lad back.

Correction for previous posting seeking activities in Picton before walking the Queen Charlotte: There need NOT be an activity each day. We are very laid back.
