Any news if the Rio Hato airport is going to start getting commercial flights from any big name carriers?

Travelling with two kids .. what is the best way to get from PTY to Buenaventura area?

The Dreams Buenaventura Panama will become AMResorts first in Panama – is set to open in 2016. Anyone know of the exact location? How construction is going?

1. Re: questions..

There aren't even any rumors about commercial flights into Rio Hato. I don't think it really makes any business sense, and it's probably going to stay that way for years, since Tocumen airport is about two hours away by car from Rio Hato.

From Tocumen (PTY), I think the most convenient way is to get a shuttle transfer. There's a transfer service right in the airport arrivals area. Once you get out of it customs, just turn left and you'll find it close to the car rental agencies. This service costs 26 one way, 48 roundtrip.

Their phone number is +507 9932449, if you want to call them and get a booking in advance.

There are a number of other companies offering transfer services, but they don't have a presence at the airport. You'd have to get in touch with them in advance and they'll be waiting for you at the airport.

Alternatively, you could go to the Albrook bus terminal and take a bus to the Farallón/Río Hato/Playa Blanca/etc. area, but this is a lot of hassle, especially if you're traveling with kids.

rent a car or contract a transfer company to take you there safely, not to many flights to Rio Hato yet.

From Tocumen it is 2 hours and this all depending on traffic, on a Friday you could easily see 4 hours!
