Waiheke for kids

Hi I am doing an explorer tour with fullers with my wife and our two 5 year olds. Could anyone reccomend a good winery where there is also lots to do for the kids? Thanks.

Hi Aman,

Wild on Waiheke which is situated along the Onetangi Straight is a family-oriented winery with things for small children and upwards on the same site - http://wildonwaiheke.co.nz/

Hi that's great thanks. Do you know if the fullers explorer bus would just drop us off and either way whether it's far from the ferry terminal to get us back? Thanks

The Explorer bus will stop opposite the entrance on its return from Onetangi beach. Your tour ticket also includes unlimited travel using the island buses. These buses pass by Wild on Waiheke regularly, since all buses go to and from the ferry terminal at Matiatia.

The passenger ferry terminal is about 7 kms from Wild on Waiheke. If you want to leave at an earlier time, you can easily get back to the terminal to catch an earlier ferry by bus, plus the island has lots of taxis so you should be able to arrange with the winery staff to phone a taxi for you.

If it's a fine day, your children may want to play on the beach over at Oneroa beach which is 1km from the ferry terminal. Since its a major village on the island, most bus services pass through this village before reaching Matiatia terminal. Oneroa is a pretty village, and it has gelato and ice-cream stands as well as a range of cafes, and small shops.

Hi,

We are looking at doing a day trip in March with my two boys aged 4 and 6 and was just wanting to confirm that the combined fare of ferry plus explorer hop on hop off also includes the use of all local waiheke buses? Our plan was to visit wild on Waiheke for lunch and then just spend some time at the beach in the arvo before heading back to catch the ferry.

Thanks for the feedback.
