Everyone is invited to "meet up" in the town of Torrey, Utah. It will be a four-day weekend event starting Friday October 5 through Monday October 8. Come early, stay late, or visit a day or two.
Our first meet-up in Southern Utah was Fall 2010 so we are now in our ninth year!
There is much to see and do in the Torrey area.
We can hike in nearby Capitol Reef National Park (CRNP). We'll have natural bridges, arches, cathedral rock, slot canyons - so many choices.
With passenger cars we should be able to enjoy driving up and down the switchbacks of the Burr Trail. And add the panoramic Strike Valley Overlook on the Waterpocket Fold.
We can carpool and go "off roading" in the back country of Cathedral Valley.
Visiting the Fruita Historic District.
Splashing through Sulphur Creek. Some of us did this as a group a few years back. Check out: http://climb-utah.com/Capitol/sulphur.htm and video for a nice preview.
Torrey offers a full range of accommodations: camping, RV and trailer park, cabins, vacation home rentals, and numerous motels. There are plenty of restaurants plus a market to buy groceries.
Everyone can join in at Happy Hour at the Sunset Point in CRNP.
Group dinners are a favorite part of every meet-up. At restaurants or a cook-out at one of the vacation homes. Maybe a pizza party one night.
Rumors were spread at last Fall's meet-up that a few folks may want to leave Torrey after the meet-up and head to Lake Powell and rent a houseboat for 2 or 3 nights.
OhioHick will set up a meet-up website for us and we can all chime in, plan the details, or just chat at about what a good time we're going to have.
Everyone is invited. Do you want to join us?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
