Book tours ahead, or negotiate when we arrive?

Hi TA's! My wife and I are headed to San Pedro in July. We are hoping to do a few fun excursions and I am looking for some advice. Should I be looking to book things now, or wait until we arrive in the hopes of finding better deals, etc.?

Perfect trip would be sailing, snorkeling, seeing manatees, and BBQ lunch somewhere. Any other suggestions? Am I looking to combine too much?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't book anything now. However, I would decide on a tour operator and stop in when you arrive since you're traveling in low season. Some tours have minimum numbers, so you'll need to be flexible with what days you go.

Look at Seaduced, they may well have the tour you're looking for. Or, for a smaller boat, look at El Gato.

Seaduced does a great beach barbecue about 15 miles north on the island.

Oliver from Cari-bean does a greatest trip with all that. He's fun and a great tour guide. We set it up through our hotel.

I would have to agree, don't book anything until you are there. Most tours can be negotiated on.

I always wait until I get there. I was dumb a few years back and booked all my tours with Expedia, along with flight and hotel. Big mistake. I overpaid HUGE by doing that. Wait until you get there, then shop around.

Just got back from snorkelling with Happy and Grumpy. In one word. "excellent".

Check them out as they have various packages.

They are two of the most personable and gracious people you will ever meet..

Felt like hanging out with family by the end of the day.

And the snorkelling was great as well.

I will add...please don't be too tough when negotiating. With the rapidly rising cost of living and the outrageous price of gas, many local tour operators are getting by by the skin of their teeth and really don't have much room to move on pricing.
