Night transport

Hello, we are planning on travelling from fes to Marrakesh in April, and would prefer to obviously do this during the night as it takes around 7 hours we here.

Is there anyone that has recently ( not 10 years ago) done this?

Can you book online before? is the train better ? or the bus? rough times?prices?

Many thanks in advance, Helen x

The train is far more comfortable. Travelling by road is not recommended at night. Here's the ONCF (train company) website:--

Take 1st Class.

Train is better then bus, that's sure in all the world lol

there's train from fez to Marrakech at 16h40mn arrives 00h10mn or night trains

02h30mn arrives 10h10mn

04h40mn arrives 12h10mn

here you can see all times of train

http://www.oncf.ma/

for buses, best company is ctm, here it's site to see times

www.ctm.ma

they have two buses one at 20h arrives at 06h and it goes via Beni Mellal

second one at 21h30 arrives at 04h, it's premium, more expensive (you would pay 50dh more) but it goes directly and you will earn 3h30 hours less

for booking early, don't else you may can't book early but don't worry places are usually avaible in the day of traveling.

If you would go by bus, go in the morning take your tickets then at night go, in train just when you go to take it buy tickets, there's always places in train specially from Fez.

Whatever you do, I repeat my advice that you don't go by road overnight.

Those train times are still valid. Just hop on a train. Take first class. Get the tickets a day in advance if you can, to be sure of getting on.

Thanks MishMishapricot. Wasn't even dreaming of an overnight road trip! I know that train takes 8 hours but a road trip is only 5.5 hours - is that true or is that Google not really knowing road conditions?

If you took the motorway, it would be nearer 7 hours, maybe more. Google maps are vastly optimistic. Remember too that you need to factor in rest and meal breaks and getting into and out of city centres,

Pedal to the metal, and without stopping, 6 hours door to door on the motorway (Fes-Marrakech)
