Halong Bay Cruise - Large or small junk?

We are planning a Halong Bay Cruise in August. Should we get rooms on a large junk with lots of other passengers or a small, private cruise? Advice on companies? 1 night or 2? (thinking 2, gien the drive out there)

We are 2 close families (Family 1: 2 adults, kids 9, 11, 13; Family #2: 2 adults, kids 2 1/2 and 6 months)

Thanks!

don't book private coz its very expensive, if you have enough time in Hanoi you should book 3D2N to explore full Halong. if you like to stay in a high standard cruise about 4star you could book Byaha cruise, if not Alova Gold Cruise, APT, Goden lotus is recommended.

If you go to Halong, you can put the boat with other passengers, it will be much cheaper than book private. Just only 1night 2days.

Bhaya legend private is quite reasonable.I would suggest the private one as for 2 familly would be much nicer and wn't be much differrent with joining the big boat and you can be more flexible especially with kids.

The boats aren't that big most only have about 10 cabins, if you use the search box here you'll get loads of info.

As previously stated, use the search engine, this subject has been to death. Which cruise operator you choose will come down to personal preference.

With the exception of taking children. From what I've read (not limited to this site) 1 night is recommended. I'm assuming the thrill of sleeping on a boat evaporates after 1 night.

We went with Indochina Junks a few days ago-2 adults and 2 kids 9 and 12. We had side/side rooms-10 rooms on boat. It was called the Dragon Pearl. They have a boat called the prince with 3 rooms that might suit you. That way you would have the boat to yourself. Highly recommend this company.
