We are heading to HCMC in January . Its our first time to Vietnam so any advice or shared experience of HCMC would be much appreciated especially

Has anyone stayed in the Continental Hotel there recently?

Any ideas on how best to fill 5 days there that isn't too exerting for us 50+++ ?

Many thanks

Check out the Rex hotel. Not cheap but was 2 blocks from markets and fantastic Tax shopping centre (about 4 floors) straight across the road. Inside shop centre it floors of individual shops selling most stuff you'd haggle for at the markets. Might cost you slightly extra(some things cheaper) but its clean, air con and toilets. On level 2 I think it was , was a great cafe tucked into the corner. Great food coffee and sooo cheap. Pork salad bread roll & ice coffee A$2.50 for both.10 spring rolls about $2.50 and great soups and noodles etc. Also yummy cakes ,sweets etc.

Hope this helps a bit

The continental hotel is a state run one , located right at the heart of the city next to the city Opera house. This hotel is a historical hotel that was famous during Vietnam war time and accomodated many of war journarlists and veterans. They renew the interior just few years back so guessing the room are still in good condition.

With 5 days you can do city tour, cu chi tunnels, Mekong Delta( recomend one over night at this region at least if possible , otherwise day trip is still worth to do)

Vespa tour to discover Saigon Unseen and cooking class at Hoa Tuc are also highly recomended!
