"Chinatown" in HCMC

Going with a Chinese friend to Vietnam / HCMC. Just wondering if there is any specific areas in HCMC where there are many Chinese owned restaurants? I've heard/read that many of the dining places that is in english cost much more then the ones mostly in Vietnamese....just thinking maybe the ones in Chinese is also targeting the local market and therefore will not be tourist prices.

District 5 and district 10 have so many Chinese eateries that you need to stay a few years eating out everyday to try them all.

Phan Don st D5 where most small Chinese restaurants located where you can go at night. Most tourists go china town to visit Cho Lon market and Thien Hau temple, not many choices for food here and yes there are many Chinese restaurants scatter the town in D1, D5, D10 and Dist 11.

Cheers

District 5 is definitely the place to go for Chinese food! It's a little far from the centre of the city, but worth it for some authentic Chinese cuisine. Cho Lon Market is also a Chinese market, but it's more of a 'bulk buy' retailer market than a touristy market. It's still enjoyable to look round though!

Hope this helps! Enjoy your time here - it's a fantastic city!
