Non as Yet - Soon in first half of 2015 (Est.) - when the Genting Group complete their 7th Hotel there.

"The 550-room hotel, five minutes away from the Jurong East MRT station"

Is there any reason, U need to stay there? If Not, there are other Hotel like in Buona Vista that just a short MRT ride away (Max 20min).

It's one of the junctions of the green and the red MRT lines and it would be quicker to get to both Jurong Bird Park and the Singapore Zoo from this location.

From Jurong East to the Zoo, it takes about 25 to 35min - depend on Traffic

Almost more by 10min (40min) if U travel from any City Center Hotel.

Singapore distance to everywhere within Singapore, is no more than 1hr using the Taxi Or MRT & bus.

In actual fact, City Hall MRT & Raffles Place MRT is on the Green & Red lines - or rather the Interchange for the East West & North Bound Train with easy connection to all downtown (Blue) & Circle Line (Orange) + the North East Line Train (Purple) - Dhoby Ghaut Station is Interchange for the Red & Purple line......

If U can give us Ur budget in SG$ per nite, U might get idea flowing thru.

Yes, if you want to visit the Zoo and Bird Park, or just about anywhere else in Singapore, the best place to stay is in Town

It's not like Queensland where we have to travel huge distances to get anywhere. A hotel in the city will mean everything is on your doorstep, and plenty of food options nearby. A hotel a short walk to an MRT station will mean everywhere is accessible.

If you need hotel recommendations let us know your budget per room per night in Sgd$ or Aust$ and what sort of place you want, eg. Big family rooms for several, small budget hotel, luxury 5 star, boutique trendy hotel.

Thanks for your thoughtful replies.

We stayed near the City Hall MRT the last time we visited Singapore and it would take us an hour or more to get to either the zoo or the bird park.

What's good about the junction of the green and the red lines is that you can get the MRT that goes closest to your destination without having to make a change. It's simply one MRT followed by one bus. Jurong East is a lot closer to the bird park than is City Hall and, by looking at the maps, it is also a lot closer to the Zoo stop as well.

We loved staying near City Hall because it was much closer to most of the other attractions that we visited but we spent more time at the zoo and bird park than anywhere else.

Jurong even if hotels were there isn't really well set up for tourists - Science Centre yes, Gardens yes but the rest of the amenities do not hold up to the convenience of the City Hall area.

The slow part of using MRT/bus to get to the Bird Park and the Zoo is the bus section and you still have to do that from Jurong - its 40minutes plus walking time (and theres a couple of walking sections from memory) to get to the Bird Park and still an hour for the zoo from Jurong East and you are separated from the city centre and its offerings.

If speed of journey is that critical then the solution is use a taxi rather than move to Jurong in my opinion. if you need to try and limit the cash somewhat then either tolerate the trip time from City Hall and go earlier or possibly taxi to the place to save time and MRT/bus back after you have finished and time pressure is off....only you can know your balance point on this though

Thanks for your reply myrm.

I think I've neglected to include a couple of pieces of information in my last reply. We're not really hung up on tourist facilities. We are both quite happy to eat and sleep local and just venture into tourist areas as the need arises.

We both love to photograph birds and animals and spent long days at either Jurong Bird Park or Singapore Zoo. We were usually there from opening to closing times and then retreated to our room to sleep. We often ate at the restaurants at the Jurong East MRT station or whatever we walked past on our way back to the hotel.

The last time I was in Singapore, I felt that the taxi rates had risen. The amount we spent on 10 days travel on the MRT and buses was less than what we spent on one taxi trip so the price difference is considerable. And I quite enjoy travelling on the MRT.

I'm always quite exhausted by the time I make it back to the room so I was hoping to minimise transit time. I've spent hours pouring over maps and Jurong East looked like the best location - if only I could find a hotel.

If there were any hotels or hostels out in that area we would certainly suggest them to you. What you are looking at on those maps is residential and industrial and green space areas with the Bird Park and Zoo within them.
