20 days in Chile

Do you think I can do Santiago to Puerto Natales / Punta arenas in 20 days and fly back from to santiago to get the flight back? is it possible to do by train or necessary by internal flights?

There are no trains that cover your route. It will have to be internal flights or buses. 20 days should be ample time.

There are few trains in Chile and they don't go very far south. Buses are faster and cheaper. You might have to fly some sectors, as parts of the main highway south have been disrupted by volcanic activity and could be again at any time. There are also ferries. With planning, you should be able to do the trip in three weeks, once you have decided where to stop off en route.

you can do it, but if by bus, a long part should be done through Argentina, which is nice as well.

But in my opinion, the nicest way is to do a part of it by ferry from Puerto Montt to Ppuerto Natales (4 days), and then travellin around Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine, Calafate, Chalten and then back to Santiago.

This is my suggestion.
