Which its less driving time to km 16.5 carretera a masaya, passing through Managua or taken the carretera to tipitapa?

trough Managua if is not is rush hour, better if you coming trough Sabana Grande. coming trough tipitapa will take you 15 to 20 min. more.

through managua. 16.5 is not far enough down the highway to warrant taking the tipitapa road. Unless you arrive around 5:30 pm, it would be faster to go through the city.

If you are looking for a faster way, and are familiar with the city, you could take the Las Colinas shortcut, which will save some minutes. Its not a direct route though, so if you arent familiar with it, its easy to get lost.
