Good Restaurant Near MGA?

I'll be there 7/19 for a flight leaving early the next AM.

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant nearby? Local. And off the radar is probably my first instinct, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks!

i would recommend intermezzo del bosque. Its up the hill so it overlooks all of managua all the way to the lake. The food there is excellent as well.

If you go up around the sunset time, you get a great view as the lights of the city come on.

Don Candido in Los Robles is a good typical local stuff. Nothing special, but a nice local meal.

If you want something a bit more lively, you could go to the zona hippos area and catch a meal and a beer and maybe some live music at places like maura and simones, ron kon rolas, art factory, or any number of places along that area.

You could do Ola Verde if you are into gluten free, or healthy type stuff.

There is a nice food truck park called El Predio. Its at the first entrance of Las Colinas. There are like 20 food trucks with different foods from various places in latin america. Its a little expensive for what you get, but its a nice experience.

if you are looking for real local neighborhood places, there is a place in barrio 14 de septiembre called Asados El Carnal. hands down my favorite typical fritanga, and its pretty much exclusively locals only.

I will say for a local experience go to Cocina de Dona Haydee

Love Don Candido's but it is a steak house and is $$$$. Zonas Hippos has a bit of everything on the same street for about 3 blocks. There is a outside food court at Galaria Mall that has many good restaurants. There's always Jimmy 3 Fingers for BBQ.

Greetings BiffSpiff:

Near MGA there's really only the two hotel restaurants, the Best Western and the Camino Real. Neither of which would be real local eats. A little further west, one block from the Camino Real and the Pharoah's casino is a small shopping plaza and there are a couple of restaurants there, neither are really great but they would be okay at least.

The places other folks have mentioned are a good twenty to thirty minutes away so I wouldn't consider them close by the airport. I haven't tried it, but it looks good and is definitely close is called Restaurante Ananda. https:/…MAPVIEW

restaurant Ananda is actually pretty good (for a vegetarian place), but its not close to the airport. Its over on the west side of town by Estatua Montoya, or by the walmart, etc. That would be farther from the airport than most of the places mentioned.

I was mistaken thinking the original poster wanted something near managua, the city. But now that i re-read it as MGA, which is the airport, then yeah, the things mentioned are not near the airport.

There is a place called Asados El Toro, which is local, and near the airport. Its near the entrance to the unidad de proposito neighborhood.

Plaza Rocargo (at the entrance to barrio camilo chamorro) has a couple restaurants in it, and a subway. I havent eaten at the restaurants.

Those are all on the main highway that goes to the airport. Unfortunately, there isnt a lot for good restaurants right near the airport. The airport is out of town almost, and near residential areas, or industrial areas, which are not known for being full of nice restaurants. You could go up any road and get some street food though. nothing worth writing home about though.

Restaurante El Madrono is pretty good and local and on the same side as the airport. Its still a 10 minute taxi ride away, but wont require you to go all the way into the city like the others.
