It doesn't matter at all. This is a circular trip. BUT you cannot visit the Casino with the 1 YO Kid as one needs to be 21 yo to enter the casino.

How many days do you have?

Other issue is what visa you have for China. If you are relying on VoA, it might be easiest to visit Shenzhen first & then take the ferry from Shekou to Macau as you will not be able to travel by road from SZ to Zhuhai/Macau.

I would probably go HK to Shenzhen and then to Macau - take the east rail line to the Luohu Border and cross into the mainland. Find a nice hotel near a metro station on line 1.

Visit Luohu Commercial City at the border (SZ side) and Dongmen Market (shenzhenshopper.com/8-dongmen-market.html) and I would also recommend Huqiangbei, not only is it electronics but you can find lots of fashion shops there, in particular, Womens World and Childrens World may be of interest (shenzhenshopper.com/18-huaqiangbei-electroni…).

For Macau, take the ferry from Shekou to Macau and be sure to check out the Venetian and the new Parisian, Ruins of St. Paul and Senado Square. There is a hop on/hop off bus service which makes light work of the sights in Macau which can mostly be covered in a day.
