May I ask what currency any of you have taken/planning to take, we are planning on taking a mixture of cash and travellers cheques with the Credit Cards for emergerncies only. Any ideas/opinions?

Thanks again

I have never seen anyone use travellers cheques in China. It is not like SEA where you actually see money exchange kiosks everywhere. China is a cash only society. Even large transactions are often paid with huge wads of cash. I'd stick with cash, cash & more cash plus a debit card for ATM withdrawals.

At top right, in search box, enter term "currency" for china forum. You will see lots of answers to your question. Also check your guide book (you DO have one, right?) under practical information.
