What is going on due to travel there 27 of Dec should I cancel?
The situation remains the same. We do not know if Mount Agung is going back to sleep or will continue on causing life to be disrupted for the Balinese...and travellers to Bali.
You could wait and see what happens over these next weeks (as we will be), or consult your airline etc and perhaps look to travel elsewhere.
And please read and post any questions on the first pinned post on the forum - here
We just returned and were stuck at DPS for 3 nights while the airport was closed.
I would say go. Nobody knows what will happen, either way. It is a bit unusual that the wind blows the ash towards DPS (there was a cyclone involved). But...
*Make sure that your schedule can be flexible
*Make sure your flight in and out of DPS is linked to your longer flight. Ours was, so SQ had to find us flights out and home. We talked to many who flew a Major Airline to SIN, then a smaller airline to DPS. When they got stuck at DPS, they missed and lost their longer flights home.
*Bring proper N95 masks with you and keep water in your bag.
They will be SO HAPPY to have you visit during this period of time.
