escalating hotel prices in huahin

We are a retired couple who did visit early this year and impressed. When we wanted to rebook this year for2 months, we were advised by the direct or that old prices and conditions do no longer apply. The previous reservarions Manager has since left the Hotel in Huahin..

Wonder if these big travel agencies are killing the Thai Reputation.

In most of Thailand high season rates are applied from November to April. December and January are peak season and even more expensive. This alone could explain the change in room rates.

There is inflation in Thailand and usually prices are adjusted (upwards) when each high season begins.

The apparently steadily increasing inflow of Chinese tourists through the year is also increasing occupancy rates so hotels have little need to sell rooms cheaply. If you are looking for cheap then Cambodia or Vietnam are now more likely candidates.

As Goodsoils say this could be seasonal. Alternatively it could be a try on by your hotel hoping that you will just accept what they quote.

Go online, look at Tripadvisor, read reviews, look at agoda and similar. There is plenty of accommodation available, indeed at the moment most hotels are hurting with low occupancy.

Nov-15th-Dec 15th high season...Dec 16th- Jan 5 Peak season...Jan 6th- April15th or so high season

Cha am is much more affordable and i personally like it better.

As far as the Chinese;; 1st everything is prepaid. they travel with groups, stay at Chinese owned hotels ,visit tours with Chinese tour companies, they have very little effect on most hotel occupancy
