Not sure about Chinese New Year but they sure celebrate the American New Year in style. We had a great time there on December 31 and it seemed like everyone in town converged onto the clock tower where there were mass amounts of people, live bands etc. I had never seen Chiang Rai so busy!
American New Year? Is that different to Canadian, European, Australian, Agentinian etc New Year? I wonder why Americans get a poor reputation sometimes.....
oh please. I'm american and I know it's international new year. when I meet a rude french person I do not immediately think no wonder the french have a reputation for being rude. people are rude, wonderful, stupid, kind, clever, cruel and hilarious all over the world. if you travel much, and interact with any depth, you find this to be true.
So would I. We are going from Chaing Mai to Chaing Ria tomorrow - February 12
I hope you found some way to celebrate the new year. New Years in Chaing Rai is nothing like New Years in the states! I have never seen (or heard!) so many fireworks go off at one time in my life! It was definitely an experience. WAAAAY too many people for my taste but still an enjoyable time!
Wow- that is a kind!
