We stayed near this hotel on our first visit to Turkey in 1992 and the hotel was new then.

We passed it every day and it looked amazing.I wished I had paid the extra money to stay there as our hotel was awful.

I cant imagine it ever being a prison in the meantime as its amongst other large hotels.

Hi Louise

Here is some general info on trips and it is sometimes nice to get away from the all inclusive and have a change of scene or a special meal. The Kalyon is recommended for that.

Kusadasi is very easy and cheap to get around by dolmus the most i have paid is 3.5 tl from kusadasi to selcuk for the market on a saturday about 30 min trip. The market in Kusadasi is on wednesday which can be exiting and also wearing you have to keep a smile and haggle hard and decide what the max is you want to pay before you buy Beware of the cheap bags with the paper ilke linings. The weather is normally better towards the end of may but as a guide Daytime 26-30degs and evening 7pm 22 degs 9pm 13-16degs so some times you will need a sweater but not always. This year was the first time we felt cool in the evening and that was only 2 nights of the first week 22nd May. Do the boat trip from the marina 100 yds to the left of the main harbour £10 for a full day including lunch book it yourself salings go at 9.30 am back around 4pm drinks are good price. Ephesus is a must for anyone visiting kusadasi if you did this on a saturday it is only 2 miles away to selcuk for the market but do it early in the morning it is cooler and take bottles of water 20tl entrance fee. 20 euro by taxi each way or 3.5 tl by dolmus but 400yd walk to bottom gate. This link may also be useful.

http://www.kusadasi.net. Couple of nice restaurants we visted are Kings Place 50 yds past the main port on the left and Kalyon where you get off dolmus on centrum high st walk to the mini round about take second right long main st with lots of bar and restarants it is on the left about 50 yds with lots of chinese lanterns but all different types of food they do a nice steak also most of the restaurants will give you a free lift back to your hotel and even pick u up. May/June is our favourite time in Turkey have a great time.
