Cheaper tickets from Buenos Aires to Colonia Del Sacramento

Just wanted to share a tip we discovered recently when looking for the best price for a one day return trip from BA to Colonia and back again.

Our tickets ended up being 50% cheaper when we purchased them directly from the Seacat office in Buenos Aires vs the prices we were given online via the Seacat site.

From the office, it's not possible for tourists to buy tickets in pesos but we paid US$54 each for same day return (Monday to Friday), leaving 8.45 am returning 9.45pm. Vs the online price of $700 pesos (which at time of writing converted to around $110 USD).

Seacat prices online were cheaper than any other carrier (Colonia Express & Buquebus). Not sure if these companies also offer cheaper tickets if purchased in the stores.

We bought our tickets the week before travel.

Any questions let me know. Hope this helps others.

The same is true for Buquebus. Go to the terminal in Puerto Madero to buy your tickets. Ours cost $92 USD compared to $250 USD online.

I paid $53 USD for a Friday day trip (8:45am departure / return at 5:45pm) this past February. It included a 1-hour English walking tour of the historic district and access to a hop-on-hop-off bus to various sites around town. Pretty good deal.

I bought my ticket on the Tuesday of that week at the SeaCat Colonia office at Avenida Cordoba, 772.

Was this payable in cash only or were you able to use a credit card?

Is Seacat a third ferry line? Is the Avenida Cordoba address in BA or Colonia?

Is Seacat a third ferry line -- a separate company from Colonia Express and Buquebus? Also, is the Avenida Cordoba address in BA or Colonia?

Hi Annie, Seacat Colonia and Buquebus are actually owned by the same company, with Seacat being the lower-priced option. The office on Avenida Cordoba is in BA.

Hope this helps

Do both Seacat and Buquebus ferries leave from the same terminal?

Hi Kristen.....thanks for the tip. However, would you have any clue as to price of return tickets but on different dates? My husband and I plan to take the ferry from Buenoa Aires to Colonia, stay a couple of nights, then take the bus to Montevideo and again, spend 2 or 3 nights. Then, again, bus it back to Colonia to Buenos Aires. Eleanor (Sydney, Aust)
