Best way to get around Islands

What's the best way to get around the Islands? Charter a longboat? What is the cost and where would I do that from?

Dear Lovegreanda,

do you really want to go around the whole island by boat? Actually I would not recommend this unless you have a yacht! It can be rough is the north. And I would say it is not worth it. If you want to go out on a longboat, concentrate on the area in the west and in the south. That is the most beautiful and most quiet. You could charter a longboat either in Porto Malay or at the yacht club. Cost should be about 300 to 400 Ringgit for about 3 to 5 hours.

Hi Eva,

I meant I want to go to Pulau Dayang Bunting and a small island or two nearby!

Thanks for the info, that's great.

Dear Lovegrenada,

that indeed makes much more sense. Porto Malay is the right place to charter a long boat. I would go in the afternoon. Maybe include the Lake of the Pregnant Maiden. The southern beach of Dayang Bunting is beautiful. Go about 2 hours before high tide if possible.

Come back if you need further assistance!

Thanks again Eva,

I was planning on the visiting the lake, and having read a lot on here, had worked out that afternoons were the best times, but I wasn't aware that there was a beach there.

Dear Lovegreanda,

the beach I am talking about is on the other side if the island. Five minutes away by longboat. You can#t miss it!

Dear Lovegrenada,

on that beach we are talking about I have never seen monkeys. That doesn't mean that there aren't any but if so, they are not yet spoilt by stupid tourists (or locals!) feeding them.

But indeed you should bring your own food and drinks. And to be on the safe side, make sure no monkeys can get it - just in case!
