Tekam Plantation Resort

Hi, would appreciate it if anyone could offer comment on Tekam Plantation Resort in Pahang, Malaysia. Specifically on facilities, value, child friendly etc. We are considering passing through here in late Dec 2006.

Hi kiwiaussiecanuck, Tekam Plantation Resort is nestled amidst the vast plantations of Malaysia fringing the National Park- oldest rainforest in the world.

In respect of facilities, besides meeting rooms( as many organisations like to have brainstorming session or team building sessions over here), there are swimming pool and Children's Pool; 9-hole Golf Course, Golf Driving Range ;Canoeing & Boati, and even fresh water fishing.

Whether it is value and child friendly, I believe you are doing a great job exposing your kids to a plantation resort, where they will be able to experience and see crops such as oil palm, cocoa, coffee, rubber, coconut and many tropical fruits. Experience first hand, the harvesting of oil palm bunches, tapping rubber or picking cocoa, coffee and tropical fruits.

Believe me, in very urban areas, it has been informed that Singapore kids have not seen a coconut tree or a coconut, and not surprising if one day, they have not seen a real life chicken.

Besides the plantation tour, there is also caves exploration and if there is sufficient nos. of paxs, day trip to Taman Negara(National Park).

Your kids will also learnt how rubber (there is a rubber factory tour)is made for those tyres (sometimes, in our generation, we take things for granted, and never question the most basic question, which sometimes is deemed a dumb or stupid question.

the only reservation I have, with the timing of your trip in late Dec. 2006, school holidays period, and many folks are in vacation mood, so there are pros and cons--sufficient number of paxs for Taman Negara, your kids may make new friends, and the only downside--crowd, but there will be kids, so child friendly.

Accommodation is quite basic-TV, air-cond and water heater; though their deluxe room even has a fridge and is carpetted (I could never understand the rationale of Malaysian house or hotels using carpets, in this tropical weather---in Europe, carpets are rolled and put aside during summer months--carpets attract dust mites, dust etc.)

thanks very much mkiaratravel for the reply. Is it not the case that Dec in Taman Nagara is extremely wet, mosquitos, leeches etc. Will it therefore be the case that the Plantatation Resort will also have the same weather. We will probably pass on this sidetrip if so.

Hi kiwiaussiecanuck, the drier months in Taman Negara are from Feb to March, and June to August.

Different weather conditions add up to the myriad sides of the National Park.
