HI Dizzy

100% see your doctor to discuss this matter about the pros, cons, and risks of taking or not taking malaria tablets. Please do not rely on non-medical website for advice.

Once your doctor or travel clinic has given you uptodate and useful advice you can make a fully informed decision.

It will depend on what you are visiting when you are visiting Kota Kinabalu, staying in the rainforest or staying on the coast or hotels.

Don't forget to ask about innoculations.

Hello Dizzi

We too are travelling to Singapore, KL and KK in September. No problems about travelling to Sin and KL but when we consulted our medics, their advice confirmed our thinking that we should take anti-malarials for the KK part of the holiday, particularly if we ' are planning to venture beyond the coastal area'. We are not venturing too far away but if travelling so far from the UK, it would be a shame not to be able to visit inland and other areas which may have a higher risk factor. It is a decision for each individual - we got sound advice and have managed to secure a good deal for the tablets, stocked up with appropriate repellants (which is very important) - so, ready to go and enjoy! I hope you enjoy your holiday too.

Mitch - thank you for your excellent posts - I have found them really useful- both KL and KK.
