Looking for a quiet park where we can meditate...

Hi all,

I'm travelling with a group of people and we are planning to meditate every day while in Kyoto. It would be really lovely to not be confined to our hotel but to find some beautiful spots outside where we can do some short 20 minute meditations.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find anywhere appropriate in Kyoto so far, seems to me like most gardens have a walking path you have to follow with the rest of the garden cordoned off, rather than parks where you can lay out a blanket under some trees to relax?

If anyone has some suggestions that would be very helpful! Thanks

Maruyama Park is a huge park and I'm sure you'll find a relatively quite spot, except when cherry blossoms are blooming and the park is packed by tourists.

Kano River banks will be good, too.

You can also visit the park surrounding the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Many open spaces for visitors to relax or picnic.

The Kyoto Imperial Palace is managed by Kunaicho, the Imperial Household Agency. You cannot have picnic or sit around and meditate, I'm afraid.
