Worthwhile stops from Ankara to Goreme

I am evaluating the options for hiring a private care vs. taking the public bus = are there good stops between the two cities to make hiring a car worth the money vs. taking a 4 hour bus ride? Thank you.

chatsfan, In this particular case I would take the bus for 4 hours. Except perhaps for Aksaray, there is no significant stop on the way. Have a look: "tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g297982-Aksaray_Capp…". However if you want to make the diversion to Konya and see the Mevlana Museum and whirling dervishes sema ceremonies, it may be worth it. Have a look: "tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g298014-Konya-Vacati…". Also here's an online road map of Turkey by Turkish Highways Directorate: "kgm.gov.tr/Sayfalar/…Maps.aspx".

good luck,

You will need a car in Cappadocia. Whether you rent the car from Ankara or Cappadocia is up to you.
