Is Redang Island a Good Option to Work Remotely?

Hi all, I am exploring certain island locations as my temp base to work remotely from either a few weeks or a month period depending on how remote the island is.

I do need to be online nearly 12hours a day for work either on my Mac or phone as backup so I was wondering if the internet speed and stability within Redang Island sufficient for me to work out of?

Preferably the island internet service is strong which translate to good wifi coverage for the hotels or Airbnb properties. On telco side, I am using both Maxis and Celcom just in case that is a factor too.

Much appreciate any feedback. Terima Kasih!

It may have improved since but when I was there in 2017 the service was sketchy. I was staying at Laguna too.

Because Redang is quite a small island, it might be the case that the infrastructure isn't there.

Perhentian is bigger so it might be worth checking there too.

All things being equal though id definitely prefer Redang.

I wouldn't decamp to a remote South China Sea island if being online for work is necessary.

Sadly no besides Langkawi which is great for internet. Smaller islands no such luck as yet.

Internet will be a key factor to be considered. Without a stable connection, you may even have a problem to access into tripadvisor forum. Perhaps some beach / shore area within peninsular will be a better choice.

hi,

I am thinking the same myself at the moment

Did you work on Langkawi ?

How was it ? Did you get internet?

Or did you choose to work on any other island ?
