Golden Triangle Car and Driver

My son and I recently returned from a two week trip to India. We spent the start and end of the holiday in Delhi but wanted a 6 day Golden Triangle tour taking in Agra, Ranthambhore for the tiger safaris and Jaipur. From favourable reviews on Tripadvisor, we asked for quotes from three companies, finally and fortunately choosing Amit Singh of India Driver Tours. We received great service from Amit and driver Avtar who we found to be knowlegable, prompt and a good companion for our trip. We couldn't rate him highly enough.. The car was always clean including the windows and although we relied on his experience of places to visit and lunch stops, we were never pushed to a tourist rip off. When we initially enquired of Amit, we obtained quotes for both car and driver only and also a price to include hotels. We are glad we chose the hotel option rather than booking ourselves as Amit gave us examples of hotels in each location so we could check beforehand and the mid range hotels we stayed in were excellent. At Ranthambhore, we specified our preference of hotel which Amit booked. This was bearing in mind we only made the final arrangements around two weeks before our holiday. The tour included car, driver, hotel B&B (full board in Ranthambore, two safaris (in jeeps where we expected the lower cost canter), all costs except entrance fees (usually around 250 rupees for major sights) and guides (we only had a guide for the Taj Mahal as we prefer to take our own time and use the guide books if necessary). Also at most monuments there are very descriptive plaques in English for the main sights.Amit also included two day tours of Delhi (one day Old Delhi, the next day New) by Avtar at the start of the holiday which also gave us a chance to get to know each other before our trip. Amit also offered an airport pick up on arrival but we had already booked this through the hotel (800 rupees). Altogether the cost including two rooms each night was 78,000 Rupees plus a tip for Avtar. Many thanks to both of you. Another unexpected bonus was the car. initially we had opted for a Tata Indigo, Swift Desire or similar as for two people we thought that would be large enough and a Toyota Innove (similar to a Previa) was anextra 6,000 rupees. In fact Avtar had an innova at no extra cost and we were delighted with the space, higher seating position and individual rear air con. having experienced it, we would recommend the extra cost of the Innova no matter how small the party. Many thanks to Amit and Avtar. Incidentally, the tours are not limited to the Golden Triangle. two days after our tour, Avtar was off on a 20 day tour taking in Jodhpur and beyond. Our hotels which we would recommend were:- Delhi - the Wood Castle and the City Star, in Agra we stayed at the Siris 18 which has a view of the Taj from the rooftop although with nearby building work I don't know for how much longer, In Ranthambhore, we stayed at the Ranthanbhore Regency and in Jaipur, the Umaid Mahal.
