Canadian dollars

I am visiting Mumbai/Delhi/Agra/Jaipur from next week onwards, coming from Canada.

It does not make sense to me to convert Canadian to USA and then to rupees. Can I easily exchange Canadian dollars at banks, hotels and forex?

Also, is debit card withdrawal easy at bank & ATMs?

Thanks

Rex

Yes, you can change CAD. Better to change with banks or authorised money changers. Genrally, hotels don't give good rates.

Inform your bank beforehand about your foreign travel so as to activate it in the countries where you are travelling to. For security purposes, most banks limit the amount you can withdraw from an ATM on a daily basis. Hence, ascertain your limit and if required you can request your bank to temporarily or permanently increase your daily ATM withdrawal limit.

Rex--you are probably there by now, but there are plenty of places in Toronto/GTA to exchange Canadian dollars to rupees, and you will get a better exchange rate than the banks traditionally give.

Suggest you use atm to withdraw cash in rupees some banks do not charge service charges. Talk to your bank before you leave. Banks and atms are dime a dozens. Never seen so many banks anywhere. ATMs are available at all railway and metro stations. Change your money at the arrival at the m7mbai airport after you exit. Ditto in stalling a SIM card for local telephone number. You will need this at all times. The cost is very low and they install a SIM card with free calls and text for the duration of your stay. They will require your passport and visa before they can issue you the SIM card.

There is a fabulous Currency Exchange at Yorkdale Mall. Thru the main doors by indigo bookstore and it is on the left just past the escalator that goes to the movies....next to the frozen yogurt store.

Hotels will exchange or ATM at the hotel.
