Airport Transfers

hi there,

We booked a hotel & flights package through Expedia from Melbourne to Matamanoa and we just realised our flight comes in at 3.30pm and it seems our only option is to hire an expensive private water taxi or helicopter to get to Matamanoa as the last South Sea ferry leaves at 3.30. Does anyone know anything about an affordable alternative? Supposedly the resort's check-in closes at 5pm as well...doesn't leave much time for transfers.

I don't think the check-in time at Matamanoa is a problem, if you can get there, there is always someone who can check you in. Re transport I suggest you e-mail the resort and see what they advise.

Between your two transfer options - given that Matamanoa is one of the further out islands of the Mamanuca group - meaning that it makes for quite a long trip by water taxi... (an example of cost)

and that's after a half hour or so to get to the Port or you could opt for a much shorter and very scenically exciting transfer by helicopter for not too much more expense...

or see if you can negotiate a refund for one nights stay (or possibly a bar/spa credit in lieu of) and arrange to spend your first night in the Nadi or Denarau area instead and take the normal boat transfer the following day.

Good luck.

You WILL NEED TO LET THE RESORT KNOW IF YOU ARE COMING IN AFTER 5PM as that is when the office closes and there will be no one to check you in.. . A water taxi will cost, we paid $900 a while ago for the boat but shared the cost with friends who were traveling with us. The trip took about an hour plus the time getting to the marina 1/2hr. plus 1/2 to get through immigration and customs. helicopters do not fly after dusk check out everything before you leave home it may be easier to have an overnight stay in Nadi and get the early boat out to Matamanoa the next day, compare the cost with doing this and what it will cost you to get alternative transport. Good luck.
