How is the beach at JW Marriott Guanacaste?

Never been to the JW Marriott but we are scheduled to stay there soon. Is the beach large and nice with soft white sand? I know they have a massive pool but I'm just thinking this is because the beach isn't very nice. Also, are there any tours or park things like zipline, etc. close to the Marriott? It seems like all the fun things are 2 hours away each way. Thanks in advance for any help!

We are at the JW Marriott right now and you are correct. the beach is ok, no white sand, hence the reason for the beautiful pool. Rooms are great and food is good but kinda on the expensive side. If you plan on eating here, and you probably will because there is nothing else around, set a budget for at least 100-150 per day for two and more if you want drinks. The closest town is Tamarindo, about a 15 minute ride and worth the trip. they have a shuttle that goes there every day, maybe 6 times, for 7.00 each way per person. There is a beautiful beach, about a 20 min walk, they call little Hawaii because of the surfers, and a nice place to eat called Lola's. Again be prepared to spend about 60.00 for lunch. Weather has been perfect with just a few sprinkles one day. The staff is friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to assist you with any needs. Hope you find this helpful and have a great vacation.
