Car Rental/Insurance Question

We'll be renting a car while we're staying at Korrigan Lodge in Punta Uva. We did this last time through Poas. I remember it being pretty cheap, but I don't remember the exact price. My understanding is that Adobe is the car rental place that's in PV now.

I'm not sure if this link will go through or not... http://www.adobecar.cr/CustomerInfo.aspx

I'm trying to figure out what we are required to purchase for "extras"/insurance and what is a choice. When I click the cheapest car from 6/20-6/27 it comes up as $128.64, plus $91 (loss/damage/waiver theft - is already chosen at this price) for a total of $219.64 for a week. It also has a supplemental protection plan, but that's not automatically checked. So am I required to get the first one, but not the second? I know that my Capital One card has some sort of car insurance/travel thing. I just want to know if it's really $219.64 or if there are other things that will be added on top of that.

Also, I have heard that they will drop it off at Korrigan. Does anyone know if there's an extra charge for this? Again, I want to compare how much it would be to go to them or for them to come to us?

Thanks!

Nicole a... Call Adobe in CR. I think you are missing the mandatory liability coverage to cover damage to other cars /property/people etc. The 91 dollars is to protect their car.... and with certain credit cards you should be able to decline it ... as in USA and the card covers damage to their vehicle. There are some restrictions in CR like tires and glass. And you will be covered after a $1000 deductible if you decline CDW. The company will put a hold on your card for 1000.and release it when you return the vehicle undamaged. We .have used Adobe and they are forthright. Give them a call and avoid surprises/

We are staying at Banana Azul and were intending on taking private van from SJ to BananaAzul, but if we are going to rent a car anyway, it seems that we should not be paying for $200 or whatever to transport us from SJ to BA and then back again....and still rent a car. It is better to rent the car in SJ and just keep it until we leave CR, right?

We have stayed at Banana Azul, and had a car, and it was a good decision. Driving to and from Puerto Viejo is about 5 hrs each way, but the road is not difficult (apart of the San Jose section; get a GPS for that part!).

While one can use bikes, or walks, we have enjoyed having a car, and thus being able to visit Cahuita and Manzanillo and BriBri (and Puerto Viejo) on our own schedule.
