I just call UBER and they quote me for tonight $ 85.00USD...not much diference from a $ 99.00 USD private transfer...
I also HIGHLY recommend Marco (see post #29). He's really responsive to email/text and incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about what to do/what not to do while visiting. The fact that he's from Jaco makes his advice about the area invaluable. We had to change our flight plans last minute and wound up landing a day earlier and at 10pm. He was there with a huge smile on his face to greet us. He's great and it was so much easier having him waiting for us vs. needing to get a taxing or Uber that late at night.
Tours & Transportation
Some rent a car offer transportation from SJO airport to your destination.
This is the case of many small companies who provide a personnalized service.
Here is one of them:
You can also ask for Bourbon rent a car, ToutCostaRica, Vert Costa Rica...and some others...
Uber is not legal in Costa Rica...you can spend some ugly time with the police...many nice peope that are legal can drive you there for around $ 99.00 USD for up to 4 passengers...price as a reference not a quote
I believe there is a bus also which you can get at the airport and it is super cheap.
I always tip 20% to anyone who does a good job
