Touring Volcan Poas

Anyone know of a good way to get to Poas early in the morning other than driving myself? Heard the bus was to too late to see a good view of the crater

There are some tour companies that offer a pretty good deal of Poas Volcano, Doka Coffee Estate, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens for like $80 - 100.

Well worth it IMO, the name of the company I'm thinking of escapes me, but if you do a quick Google search of that combo tour, companies should pop up.

Cheers

Check Rainforest Tours which does a combo tour to Poas, Sarchi and Doka Coffee Estate for $67 per person, rainforesttours.com/costaricatours/poas_volc…

or ABC Tours runs a 1/2 day tour of Poas only or a full day combo tour: abc-costa-rica.co.cr/EN/…poasvolcano.html Their email address is info@abc-costa-rica.co.cr

We hired our private driver, Wilson Rojas. He picked us up at our downtown San Jose Hotel at around 6am and drove us to Poas Volcano. We arrived just after the National Park opened at around 8am. We had a great view of the Volcan Poas, and walked up to the Botos lake area. Wilson stressed that if we got there really early, we'd have the best chance of seeing the volcano with no cloud cover, plus we avoided the big crowds of people in tours that would come later. Never a guarantee on the weather, but this worked out beautifully for us. You can take a tour of the Doka Coffee Plantation if you want after the volcano. We stopped for lunch at a delightful non-toursity restaurant, Chubascos on the way back. Wilson email is: wilson_elsy@yahoo.com
