March or April for Petrified forest and then rockhounding?

Hello this will be my first trip to Arizona I was wondering if anyone could possibly suggest the best time march or april? for visiting the Petrified forest as im used to Snow but would much rather try to go when theres no snow before the summer temperatures really heat up ? Also if anyone could suggest any areas to go Rockhounding outside of the National parks to look for Petrified wood or other cool rocks in Arizona would be greatly appreciated Thank you

Do bell ranch (recommend on the sight already) was amazing! The guy who operates it is 4th generation ownership. He was super helpful and has lots to choose from all around the property. Finally, the prices can't be beat. We felt guilty for how little he charged so we gave him extra! Lol

For rockhounding, many things require little or no preparation to enjoy. Others involve a lot of preparation and craftmanship. Petrified wood is a material that benefits greatly from that added work so do look at the shops.
