We'd like to fly to Durban from Nelspruit after Kruger on the 10th April. The flight arrives at 15.10 . Is it realistic to get to St Lucia before dark, what are the roads like.? We have to be in Dundee on 12th as have a battlefields tour on the 13th and then driving to Johannesburg for an evening flight home on the 14th. Thanks.
The road from King Shaka airport is good all the way. The drive takes about two and a half hours. The sun sets around 6.30.
Have you thought about flying into Richards Bay ? About half the time instead of Durban and you would arrive before dark all being well.Dundee is a quaint little town and if you can visit the Talana Museum there I would recommend it.

Thanks again all. The flight to RIchards Bay doesn't actually arrive until 5p.m. so by the time collected the car would be similar to arriving in Durban at 15:10p.m. . I might just stay in RIchards Bay and drive up to St Lucia the following day as will then be nearer to Dundee on the Wednesday afternoon or alternatively not book anything and see how the journey is going with a couple of B n B s in mind to ring . Decisions decisions !!!!!!
You could fly into Richards Bay and spend the night there. The following morning you drive to St. Lucia.
The Bon Waterfront Hotel is in a great location in the seafront promenade in the Tuzi Gazi so you wlll have security parking, room service and lovely waterfront views and a 5 minute walk to sea /waterfront eateries should you not do in house dining there. Only a few kms from RB airport.
