We've been advised that the chauffeur service provided by the hotel is a bit expensive. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, are there any local taxi firms which are safe to use?
Usually Hotel shuttles cost much more than pre-booking a taxi or shuttle company - anywhere in the world. Unless you are paying over the top for the stay and they are "complementary"!
Airport to Bishopscourt should cost between R200 and R300.
All mainstream taxi companies in Cape Town are "safe".
My personal choice for airport transfers is John Farthing of Kestrel Services. I have been using him for more than 5 or 6 years. Very reliable. Always texts me the day before I booked him to confirm and when he is leaving to pick me up. He comes from the Southern Suburbs so is close to Bishopscourt. Nice new large Mercedes though with plenty of room for luggage -

Alternatively just look at one of the main Private Taxi companies of which there are many :

Edited: 12 years agoHi,
I use Citihopper shuttle service (http://www.citihopper.co.za) and the charge from the airport to Bishopscourt is R210 for one passenger and R240 for two.
Tx - I'll follow up those links
