Flatland family of 4, kids ages 11 & 7, like to hike and see the landscape. Kids are good for up to 10 miles, if necessary, but we tend to keep the hikes under 6 miles and 2000 vertical ft. unless they are exceptional and worth the strain.
Our schedule and budget is limited, as this trip is really just to pick up a vehicle we are buying and to go to a meeting in PHX.
Arrive PHX at 5:10 PM this Saturday, pick up new vehicle waiting at airport, grab some drive through food and drive to Sedona. This is going to bring us in at an ill advised hour or so after sunset, but will give us All day Sunday and Monday, as well as half the day on Tuesday before we have to head back to PHX. Staying at the Greentree Inn, because that is what was available.
We have already been to GCNP, Antelope, etc. last year, following your advice on here, at it was all wonderful, but we did not make it down to Sedona.
Spending >$300.00 for a jeep tour would be great, but not in our budget. We have already spent that money by staying in Sedona vs Cottonwood.
Can you suggest some fun, and not crazy packed hikes, or trips? This is kind of last minute, and I'll read what I can, but I know that the top 10 lists can also be the most crowded. We are ok with 80% pretty, if it means 20% of the crowds.
Also we will have a high clearance 4x4 if that opens up any possibilities.
Is Montezuma's castle or Tuzigoot worth a stop in our limited time?
I plan to buy a National Park Pass if that would help, because later this year we'll be visiting several NP and NM.
Thank you.Edited: 19 March 2018, 21:56
