Dachau Bahnhof. Dachau Stadt (town) is a different station.

A ticket from Munich to Dachau will also cover the buses to the memorial site itself.

Neither. For a return trip a day ticket "München XXL" is with EUR 8,60 the cheapest option.

And hands-off the strip tickets. The savings compared to single trip tickets are minimal, their usage is complicated (and thus prone to EUR 60 fines) and if you have a stripe left over in the end no savings at all.

Oh I use the journey planner and it recommend to buy single ticket 5.40eur.

So if I use single ticket, it only warrants 4hrs travel and not including the bus fare.

If use Single day ticket XXL, It applies to whole day and includes bus...

Is it correct?

And about the single ticket (4hrs), the expiry of 4 hrs is based on the end of journey or the time we board the train? For example, the expiry is 4pm and we board the return train at 3.55pm, will arrive destination at 4.30pm. Is that ok? Or do we need to finish the journey by 4pm?

You are misunderstanding things a bit here.

Munich XXL is a day pass (NOT a single ticket) and is valid all day.

A single ticket (2 zones) is valid for a one-way trip and also includes the bus.

The time limit is irrelevant for the trip itself as it is just a limitation of how long a journey may take in total. A 4 hour validity does not mean that you can go back and forth during the 4 hour time period. It is still a one-way journey in one direction only.

You may interrupt your trip on a single ticket and continue in the same direction within that time limit. The time limit starts with the validation stamp and if the time limit is reached the ticket voids immediately.

The journey planner does not know that you want to return on the same day, in which case a Munich XXL day pass is the better deal.
