Best way to hotel

After flying into Lax from the Uk and picking up our rental car we will be staying overnight at the Comfort Inn Cockatoo. We just need a place to lay our heads for the night aftert the long flight so this hotel fits the bill for us. Looking at Google we have the choice of 3 routes to the hotel and have at the moment picked out the one which goes W.Arbor Vitae St, S.La Brea Ave, Hawthorne Blvd, Imperial Hwy then onto Acacia Ave. A good route? taking into consideration the number of stop lights, traffic etc? We are not looking neccessarily for the quickest way but as we are normally very tired, plus the time difference as well, neither of us are on top of our game at that particular time. We land at 15.05 so after clearing security, picking up rental car it seems likely we will have rush hour traffic as well. Have driven in the LA area before so hopefully we can be on our way and into hotel before crashing out! Thanks for any help!

Sure, that is one way to get to the Comfort Inn on the old Cockatoo property. It's not such a great area, but you seem to just want to crash there after a long flight and move on the following day.

Probably take you 10 minutes, depending on commute traffic. There are a few restaurants in the area.

Thanks for getting back so promptly!

I admit you have me worried by saying the hotel is not in a great area. We previously stayed in Manhatten Beach for our first night but trying to keep expenses down so have gone for the Comfort Inn but if the area really is'nt too great, should we change it? Can't really see us venturing outside once we have checked-in , just need somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep before we are on our way the next day. Don't need any restaurants as will have had more then enough food on the plane.

Any thoughts?

Usually the areas just east of LAX is not what we would recommend. However, the Comfort Inn is newer and clean, built on the property of an old hotel that was boarded up and finally gutted. They do offer secure parking, so you don't have to worry about your car rental.

Have a sleep, breakfast is offered, and be on your way. Where are you heading next? The freeway is close by.

What a relief, thanks a lot!

We are off to Las Vegas for 3 nights the following day. Not our favourite destination to be honest - 4 nights there is our limit, but we do enjoy the entertainment in the evenings. On to the north rim of the Grand Canyon next as we have not seen it from that direction, Page, Flagstaff, Scottsdale for 1 week, Yuma - to see the old prison, Coronado Island then Redondo Beach for 2 nights then fly home from there. We are spending 3 weeks travelling in a circle more or less. We usually fly into Phoenix (have been doing this for years) but the price has gone way up and we refuse to pay it so hence Lax. This year we are visiting so new places and some old favourites so looking forward to a great time once again in September!
