I just got back yesterday. Still go. Driftwood is totally messed up. I feel permanently. 90% of the driftwood is pushed all back in a pile in the woods. There still is some there. Everything is running fine besides that. I'll be going back again next year. Don't cancel your trip

Stay at The Westin or Jekyll Ocean Club. We stayed at the Westin over Labor Day and really enjoyed it there. Great part of the beach and you can walk to a good number of stores and restaurants. The Westin restaurant, The Reserve, was quite good too. They have a free shuttle that will take you anywhere on the island.

We were just there the afternoon and evening of 9/23 and the morning of the 24th.

As Derek mentioned, Driftwood beach is 'messed up'.

Many of the access boardwalk points with stairs down to the beach are gone- I guess- never saw the beach before Irma, and all we could see was the wreckage, which was extensive.

Have to say, this beach is simply a formerly forested area with ocean encroachment that has killed trees which fell onto the now beach area. They've deposited loads of large rock/stones at the wave/waterline to prevent further erosion, at least where we were able to get onto the beach.

It's an unusual beach in that respect- the fallen dead trees, the stones, and pretty in its own way, but it doesn't seem that user friendly or swim-able to me, not with all the rocks.

We much preferred the beach in front of the Days Inn, which was wide and rather lovely.

We found lots of sand dollars- left the live ones and took a couple dead ones.

The boardwalk to Glory beach was damaged/closed, so we didn't get to see that.

There were lots of rolling waves due to Maria being a couple hundred miles offshore- very pretty, and we enjoyed walking the paths along the ocean which are very handicapped accessible including plenty of handicapped bathroom facilities along the way.

Hope you enjoy your visit!
