Camping - Public Lands

Hey! We are looking at coming to Lava this weekend but are interested to see if there is any public land/national forest somewhere close where we can camp. We just hate the craziness of campgrounds. Any tips?

On the county road heading North, from Lava ... My map shows a campground about 10 miles out ... The Lava area camping is usually fairly sedate... Weekends do bring in familys ... enjoy .... carracar

For USFS campgrounds and site availability, this is the site to go to: recreation.gov

For State campgrounds: http://idahostateparks.reserveamerica.com/

If you decide to try a private campground, you can find a list at VisitIdaho.org

Hope this helps.

Another great resource is www.recreation.gov. Plug in the type of camping needs you have - its worked well for me.
