Best way to downtown Chicago on public transportation

Hello:

My family will be staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Highland Park. We will be traveling by train so no cars. What is the best way to get to downtown Chicago for some sight seeing? Any package deal for public transportation or sight seeing? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

You are real close to shopping, but a long, long walk to public transport. Most of the people in the area you are staying have lots of $$$, so public transport is not a big concern for them. There is a Metra line that goes through Highland Park, but the closer is 3.3 miles east on Lake Cook (Ironically, by the other Courtyard on the same road). You can use that to get into the city. Maybe the hotel has shuttle to get you there and back. It is right next to the Home Depot.
