Visiting KC for Chiefs game, best place to stay?

Planning on coming to KC for Chiefs vs NY Giants. Could nsomeone recommend good Hotel/Ares to stay? Traveling with 12 45/50 year old fans.

Thanks

That depends a little on what you are planning to do.

If you are just coming in for the day of the game and one night, I would suggest staying close to the stadium. There are several hotels near it, but my first choice would be the Drury Inn & Suites Stadium.

If you are making a weekend of it and plan to see the metro area, there are a wide range of options. My first recomendation to a group from out of town, would be one of the hotels on the Counry Club Plaza. The Plaza is a beautiful Spanish influenced entertainment district and you would have many restaruants, bars and shops within walking distance.

The Westin Crown Center or Hyatt Regency Crown Center would provide walking access to another selection of entertainment, restaurants and shops in Crown Center. This group are all indoors and there are also attractions.

Or if you are on a budget, and keeping expenses down is a big factor, I would look at one of the Overland Park, Kansas hotels.

The first three suggestions were all in Kansas City, Missouri.

The casinos are also not too far from the stadium. Harrahs has a property, Ameristar or Argosy all have hotels if that is of interest. I prefer Ameristar because they have a great sports bar and movie theater.

If alcohol is going to be heavily consumed... which it probably will, stay across the street at the Stadium Holiday Inn, it's a 2 1/2 to 3 star hotel. It has a decent little bar as well. Drury Inn was mentioned as well and is literally 50 feet from a Denny's and walking is available across the I-70 on George Brett Bridge! It provides free hot breakfast- but no bar or lounge. Directly across the street is an old Adams Mark/Clarion which is now a Sheraton; it has an indoor waterpark as well. And not to mention a good bar and nice restaurant. They are all walking distance to the stadium. If your tailgating- it's a very, very short 1 to two minute drive. This is where I'd stay for convenience and proximity for your group. If heavy shopping is to be included; check out the KC plaza area as well.

Doesn't Drury Inn also provide free snacks and alcoholic beverages in the early evening?

Just talked to my brother-in-law who stayed there a few months ago; he says they have a managers reception from 5:30 to 7 or 7:30 in the evening and they allowed you two or three drinks. They had popcorn also to snack on. He said when they shut down- they were shut down; no if's, and's, or but's. So, theres a bar/lounge, but only for complimentary drinks for 1 1/2 to 2hrs in the pm.

Not bad, if you need more, walk over to Sheratons or Holiday Inn's sports bar. Bro-n-law and family loved the convenience of their free "hot" breakfast.
