Pre-game options before Wild Game

A few buddies are flying in from Canada to catch the Wild vs Avalanche in October.

Any good spots for pre-game drinks around the arena?

-We like casual atmosphere, pubs, beer and fun. Which goes without saying for a sports trip.

Thanks,

Patrick McGovern’s Pub is about a block away and is my favorite option. Get there early or plan to wait for a table. The famous turkey sandwich is my favorite thing on the menu.

Other nearby options:

Eagle Street Grille

The Liffey (Irish Pub)

There’s also Tom Reid’s Hockey City Pub, but I think it’s overpriced and the food isn’t great. Tourists love it though. It seems to usually be filled with out-of-towners, not locals.

Awesome Sara B., appreciate the local insights. Would rather drink among the locals, than other tourists like ourselves! If you think of others, let me know....

I would give Tom Reid's Hockey Pub a try. I have been there before and don't remember a lot of people wearing "away" jerseys. I thought most were wearing Minnesota Wild jersey's. If you go there and are surrounded by Ottawa fans you can always go somewhere else.

Tom Reid played for the Minnesota North Stars for years and is now a Minnesota Wild radio play by play broadcaster (or color commentator).

Great Waters Brewing Company is another option. It’s a little bit further away than the other spots I mentioned but it’s still very easily walkable to the game. 3 blocks maybe.

Thanks rockeyjoe. I saw that place too, we are going to Mspl for the Wild vs Colorado game, so hanging with locals is what we are looking for.

Honestly just bar hop before the game ! Tons of local bars along the street. I really like the food truck park! You can get beer in a cup that’s shaped like the Stanley cup!

Great to know there are so many options near the arena.

Looking forward to exploring a couple of these spots.
