Resort within 60 to 90 miles of Minneapolis

I am looking for a resort within 60 to 90 miles of Minneapolis. we will be traveling from July 23rd thru August 1st. Must haveswimming, fishing, boat and motor rental near by and be able to sleep 5 adults and three children. The more activities for the kids the better. Thanks for any help I can get.

We have stayed at Lost Lake lodge near Brainerd Mn. for the past 13 years . great for kids and Moms and Dad. 2 fabulous meals are include in your stay. You pay by the person, so they have large cabins. It is simply one of the best relaxing places on earth! www.lostlake.com

Another good resort is Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge. It is actually quite near the Lost Lake Lodge in Brainerd, MN. Specifically Ruttger's is located in Deerwood, though. Here is their website.

It also look like you can book rooms online, too. So that is a plus!

Brainerd does have lots of choices but is outside the 90 mile range. About 130 miles from Minneapolis. Most of the resorts are another 20-40 miles north of Brainerd. Still this is the best option for a large group.

Onamia at the south end ot Mille Lacs is 89.5 miles. Sauk Centre is 105 miles (but all freeway so faster) and there are places on Sauk Lake. A bit farther opens up a bunch of options around Alexandria. Same distance as Brainerd but, again, all freeway so much faster. The Arrowwood Resort might be a good option.

Spicer, on Green Lake, is 95 miles. The Siren , WI area is about 91 miles the other way and there are many lakes and resort options around there.

Really close in (31 miles) there may still be a resort on Big Marine Lake near Forest Lake. Or some around the Chisago City / Lindstrom area at 39 miles.

Don't know how strict your radius is, but Brainerd is at least 120 miles away from Minneapolis and sometimes the traffic can make it seem a lot longer. Might check out Balsam Lake, Wisconsin resorts. About 80 miles away and easy to get to. There are still several mom and pop resorts there that probably have everything you're looking for. Never stayed at any of them but I'm familiar with the area and Balsam Lake itself is a neat lake. Very northern Minnesota/northern Wisconsin feeling for being that convenient to the cities.

Here are more suggestions for resorts fairly "close - in" to the Twin Cities.
