We will be arriving in Kasane in October for three nights. I found out that 4 X 4 carry 10 people and boat carry 30 to 40 people. I am looking for a smaller group. If possible, we would like to book a private safari and private river boat safari. Can anyone help us with the information?

I arranged a small boat river cruise through our Lodge owner and we only had 6 guests total and one very good driver/ guide. Many Lodges can easily arrange these,as well as Chobe GR safaris. Alternatively, check with the Botswana Tourism Organisation Office in Kasane which is at the airport

Any operator can offer you a private safari or a private cruise. I am not sure what they will charge you for the empty seats but our company doesnt put much on top. it is quiet affortable. Having some privacy during chobe safaris is not a problem at all.

enjoy your journey!

Try http://www.steenboksafaris.com

We were the only ones on the boat. Lots of good reviews here on TA.

As far at the truck safari, I paid for 2 extra seats ($50) and the three of us had a private tour. The boat tour you can obtain a small boat, but not sure of pricing. A better deal night to to take one the photo boats, with include cameras mounted on the boat. Max 5 or 6 persons. A bit pricy, but lots of lens power for your photos.

We have used Big Sam Hubbers many times for one day trips and he is fantastic. Our group has been as few as 4 people and he will do private tours for small groups. There is nothing quite like having the truck and boat just for your group. You can contact Sam here: http://bigsamhubber.co.bw

If you have deep pockets you can arrange your own private tours, or one other idea, is the photographic boat safari. There are only about 6 people on it, they provide cameras on stands and both the camera and your seat swivel so it doesn't matter which direction you are going, you just swing around. I only saw one from the boat we were on, so don't know prices etc, but learnt more when we got home about how it actually works. It looked amazing.

Anything can be arranged as long as you pay extra for it. In your lodge or around the Kasane shopping center you will find agencies able to offer you a private car / boat but it is only possible if you also pay for unused seats in the car or boat, Especially on the boat it is quite questionnable if you need to go alone, all of the boats are using the same stretch of the river for their gameviewing.

I'm not sure who you are directing your question to but we stayed at Chobe River Cottages in Kasane (town) and the owner Bronwen organised it. Their backyard fronts onto the banks of the Chobe River and a 5 minute walk down to the waters edge we were on our way.
