The Falls - transportation questions

We are considering booking a trip to Niagara Falls this August. Planning on flying to Buffalo and staying at the Sheraton at the Falls. We are only going for a few days and so far, we want to go to the Falls, visit the Fashion Outlet Mall of Niagara Falls and the casino. A pretty basic quick trip over 4 days. Will we need a car to do the above listed things or can we get away with a shuttle from/to airport and cabs?

Note that none of the hotels on the US side actually have a view of the Falls. It is easiest to rent a car to get around since public transportation is not as prevalent in that area. Are you planning on going to the Canadian as well? If you decide to rent a car, Niagara on the Lake is a very nice quaint town about 15 miles from the Canadian falls, and there are dozens of wineries in the area.

Thank you. I think we will rent a car after all. I am not a confident driver but sounds like it may be best. We will probably go to the Canadian side since we're there.

IMHO You should stay on the Canadian side (all of the photos you see show the Canadian side - front of the falls, the US side is the top of the falls) where there are hotels with full views of the Falls and floor to ceiilng views of the floodlighting that they do at night.

Just remember you'll need your passport to go to the Canadian side. I'm assuming you're American citizens.

Well, technically you don't need it to enter Canada but you need it to re-enter the U.S., so obviously you have to have it with you.
