We are an Australian couple renting an RV out of NY and driving to Niagara Falls via Finger Lakes area.
The are KOA campgrounds on both sides of Niagara and initially we intended to keep to the NY side but would it be better to cross the border into Canada for the following reasons-
KOA- $75 CAD on Canadian side- equivalent on NY side is $92 USD (about $120 CAD)
Most attractions seem to be on the Canadian side- eg. Journey behind the falls
On the Flip side- we would need Canadian visa waivers and is it a drama crossing the border?
Both campsites require crossing toll bridges, so no difference there. Both seem to have easy to access bus service to the falls. Seems unrealistic to expect to park an RV anywhere near the falls so this is an important factor. (We don't like doing tours, and like to walk/hike and do our own thing.)
If anyone can offer an opinion or advice on the merits or otherwise of staying on the NY side or crossing the border it would be greatly appreciated. (we have permission from RV rental company to cross the border- no extra cost from them)
