One day in Columbus

We'll be passing through the area on our way to see family and have a day to spend in your city. We love visiting small cities. Assuming we have about 5-6 hours to explore and have a late breakfast/early lunch where should we go?

We like antiques and architectural salvage places, science museums, parks, shopping, waterfront areas, unique sites that are specific to the city we're in. Any recommendations for a breakfast-lunch restaurant is appreciated too. (We are not fans of chain restaurants or the usual stuff at malls.)

Thanks all!

Check out: The Short North District, German Village, the Scioto River area, and Easton. Also, The Franklin Park Conservatory.

If you have children with you, a visit to COSI would be enjoyable and interesting.

Enjoy your visit!

You can find all those things and more in Columbus. It's really no need to travel outside of Columbus to a small city. If you look at the Columbus page or do a keyword search on the forum for the things you like, you'll find an abundance of things to do, rather than drive to a small city to explore. I would recommend staying in Columbus. I've included a link to breakfast for some ideas.

What day of the week will you be here? On Sundays Milestone 229 has a brunch menu. It is right on the Scioto Mile(waterfront area.) In German Village, Barcelona Restaurant has brunch and is just a couple blocks away from Schiller Park.

Its a cute little city. We have passed through a few times now and really enjoyed exploring the Germain village. You can check out this list https://www.itsallbee.com/2020/07/things-to-do-in-columbus-ohio/ as I found it useful during my last visit. If you are into your breakfast she also has a list https://www.itsallbee.com/2020/08/best-breakfast-columbus-ohio/ on before local place for breakfast in Columbus and none of the chain types.
