Why are coasters closed?

We had planned to visit Hersheypark last summer. Hershey extended our tickets so we're going soon. But looking on the app there are several major coasters that are closed. Are these closed due to staff shortages? It's not raining there today so it's not the weather. Such a disappointment to be forced to use our tickets and yet the park isn't running at 100%. Anyone know what the deal is with the closed rides?

Most likely staff shortages. The Harrisburg newspaper published an article about it just 10 days ago. It's not just Hersheypark, all nearby amusement parks are struggling to hire enough staff, as well as local restaurants and other retail establishments. This is a national problem too, it's not just local to central Pennsylvania.

Storm Runner had a cable issue that may or may not have been fixed yet.

It was closed for the entirety of last year.

There was also a pending lawsuit that shut it down.

I've tried monitoring the ride queues with the app as well with mixed and likely inaccurate results.

Which other coasters were showing closed?

If you are on Facebook and if you haven't all ready, join the Hersheypark Connoisseur page, there is a lot of chatter on there about the coasters. As stated above, Stormrunner has had some technical/mechanical issues that they are resolving. Also as stated above, there have been extreme staffing shortages at Hersheypark. Many other employers are offering higher pay for summer employment and there are other factors at play. It's a viscous cycle.

Just saw this article today, Dorney Park amusement park in nearby Allentown will now only be open 5 days a week, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, due to staffing shortages. And they're paying $15 to $20 per hour, according to the article.
